WHY ACTIVATE NUTS AND SEEDS?
Activating seeds eases digestion and allows to access all the fantastic nutrients in these everyday superfoods. The activation process ( soaking and drying at low temperatures) breaks down the phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors that are a natural part of seeds. The result is nutritious and super tasty!
BENEFITS:
Although at first glance Buckwheat Cacao Crunch looks like just another chocolatey breakfast option – there is much more to it than meets the eye! Yes, it is chocolatey, but it is also packed with great nutritional benefits.
Buckwheat: Buckwheat is a nutrient dense pseudocereal with a low glycaemic index. Buckwheat contains a wide range of strong and unusual antioxidants, as well as anti-inflammatory compounds. It is higher in protein than other whole grains, and also notably high in fibre. Buckwheat is also a great source of the vitamin B complex.
Pecans: Pecans provide a significant amount of monounsaturated fats, as one of the nuts highest in these great quality fats. Pecans also contain more anti-oxidants than other nuts and are a good source of vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, and potassium.
Cacao: Cacao powder is full of powerful antioxidant flavonols. Cacao contains compounds that contribute to feelings of wellbeing, relaxation and generally enhancing your mood (especially, these are anandamide, theobromine, phenethylamine and serotonin). It is also one of the richest food sources of magnesium available!
Sunflower Seeds: Sunflower seeds are an excellent source of vitamin E, which is the body’s primary fat-soluble antioxidant. They are also high in folate, phytosterols (which help reduce cholesterol levels), and protein.
Cranberries: Cranberries are widely considered a superfood, even when dried, because of the minerals and plant compounds they contain. They contain compounds that are powerfully anti-inflammatory as well as antioxidants. Cranberries are widely used to treat urinary tract infections and also help maintain gut health.
