WHY ACTIVATE NUTS AND SEEDS?
Activating seeds eases digestion and allows to access all the fantastic nutrients in these everyday superfoods. The activation process ( soaking and drying at low temperatures) breaks down the phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors that are a natural part of seeds. The result is nutritious and super tasty!
BENEFITS:
Buckwheat is a remarkable seed (that seems like a grain but isn’t) – it has a complete amino acid profile so gives you all the amino acids your body needs to synthesise proteins. It is ridiculously high in fibre and surprisingly high in protein.
Activated nuts are great sources of protein and quality fats. In addition: Pecans are a good source of Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium your body needs; Cashews are a good source of Magnesium, Copper and the natural anti-depressant tryptophan.
Pumpkin seeds contain significant amounts of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. They help nourish and heal the digestive tract and maintain healthy skin.
Cranberries contain anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds and are widely used to treat urinary tract infections and to maintain gut health.
Coconut is another tropical superfood, thanks to its fat profile (predominantly medium chain triglycerides or MCTs), high fibre and antioxidants. It also has anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties.
Maple syrup contains zinc and manganese in fairly high amounts, in addition to potassium and calcium. In addition, it contains numerous antioxidants and gets a lower score on the glycemic index.
